Code and Crumpets

Coding, Thoughts and Sourdough

Why I write

I’ve always believed that some thoughts deserve more than a character limit and algorithm driven filtering. As much as I embrace chaos and anarchy of Mastodon and the somewhat decentralised freedom of BlueSky, not everything fits into a bite-sized post. And while LinkedIn thinks it’s a professional town square, it often feels more like Facebook in a tie – not quite the place for half-baked ideas, side projects, or the kind of nerdery that involves coding into the night, soldering things at 2am or oversharing opinions on current events.

So I write here.

This blog is my digital shed – a place to tinker, test, and talk about the things I care about. Mainly tech, of course.

But it’s not all wires and code.

Friends, travel, books and hobbies matter to me too – not in the influencer “find yourself in Bali” or “Virginia’s weekend bookclub” kind of way, but in the trains, languages, weekend getaway in cities and countryside kind of way.

This space gives me room to ramble. Sometimes it’s practical, sometimes philosophical, occasionally it’s just a story from the road (or the command line). But it’s mine, and maybe you’ll find something here that sparks your curiosity, makes you laugh, or helps you finally fix that weird error message.

Thanks for stopping by.
